Lost Universe ~Canal on your desktop~ (ロスト・ユニバース ~きゃなるon yourデスクトップ~) is a multimedia CD released in 1999 for Windows 95/98 and Mac OS. Featured on it are various thematic multimedia, programs and applications. On the disc can be also found staff interviews and a visual novel-like game starring Canal.

Desktop theme[]
A "Canal OS" desktop theme containing backgrounds, screensavers, system voices and icons and even thematic startup/shutdown images (Requires a copy of Microsoft Plus! 95/98 for proper installation).

A series of thematic desktop applications:

- Notepad
- Fortune-telling
- Biorythm
TALK mode[]
A visual novel style video game where the player can converse with Canal. Canal will ask questions and the player can pick from three responses (positive, neutral, negative) which will influence her mood. A very high mood will unlock additional functions and themes for the mini applications, whereas a very low mood will cause "glitches" to occur.
Database[]
A HTML encyclopedia containing information pertaining to the Lost Universe anime, such as character introductions, a glossary of terms, screenshots and a series of video interviews with director Takashi Watanabe and character designer Naomi Miyata.

- CPU: Pentium 90MHz or higher (133MHz or higher recommended)
- OS: Windows 95/98 (PC-98 or DOS/V)
For MacOS:
- CPU: PowerPC or higher
- OS: KanjiTalk 7.5 or higher
General requirements:
- Screen display: 640 x 480 or higher, 16Bit or higher (TALK mode requires 800x600 or higher)
- Sound: PCM sound source
- Memory: 16MB or higher installed ( 24MB or more recommended)
- CD-ROM: 2x or faster (4x or faster recommended)
- HDD: 100MB or more free space
- Desktop themes require "Microsoft Plus!" to be installed.
- Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher is required to view the HTML materials. QuickTime 3 or higher is required to view video clips.
